Dr. Jumba Jookiba
(Lilo & Stitch)
Dr. Jumba Jookiba is the infamous Disney mad scientist responsible for the creation of Stitch. While Dr. Jumba Jookiba did display the stereotypical madness of a mad scientist, he was also a character of comedic value in the movie. Jumba participated in many illegal experiments to create hysteria among the galaxy. Jumba was more interested in the extreme chaos that he could cause as a result of his experiments as opposed to true evil. Jumba also had said to be divorced, as he mentioned his ex-wife multiple times in the movie.
Appearance wise, Jumba is an obese alien-like creature. Jumba has purple colored skin and a big belly. His clothing switches between a blue-striped prison jumpsuit and a white lab coat. Jumba has been said to look like a hippo, which is most likely due to the younger crowd that views Lilo & Stitch, as they couldn't have too terrifying of a mad man.
Dr. Jumba Jookiba was on trial for his multifarious illegal genetic experiments. Jumba's motive for creating Stitch was for the sole purpose of him destroying everything that he came in contact with. Jumba took immense pride in all of his experiments and was impressed with how crazy Stitch turned out to be.
While Jumba was a mad scientist, he turned out to be a "good guy" in the end. When Lilo was captured by Captain Gantu, he quickly agreed to help rescue her. Jumba grew to act as a father-figure towards Lilo, a vital role her family was without. Jumba began to really form a connection with Lilo's small family, making him more of a hero than a villan. And after all, she was captured due to his experiment. Unlike Victor Frankenstein, Jumba took full responsibility for his experiment gone wrong.
The moral/ethical issue in Lilo and Stitch was the acceptance of Stitch in the human world. Clearly Jumba's actions weren't ethical, however, Stitch tried to fit into a human world where Lilo helped him. The unacceptance of Lilo is what enabled her to relate to Stitch. Also, Stitch was named "Stitch" because he was what stitches Lilo's family back together. While Stitch did struggle to gain acceptance in the human world, Lilo took him in instantly because all she wanted was a friend.
