Mad Scientist Blog: Dr. Evil

What a better person to represent a mad scientist than the man himself Dr.Evil?
In the widely known Austin Powers' movies, Dr. Evil plays the role of the mad scientist.
He is devious and maniacal in every aspect. Dr. Evil is his name and world domination is his game. Every chance he can, Dr. Evil is trying to dominate someone or something. Although Dr.Evil is a very intelligent man, he makes very idiotic choices. He never quite gets to follow through with his plans because he can never successfully keep Austin Powers out of the picture due to being selfish and thinking that his way of dealing with things is always right.

Dr. Evil shows many obvious traits of a mad scientist. A prime example of this is the clone of himself. "Mini Me" is Dr.Evils sidekick and is considered a son to him. Some times he even puts mini me before his biological son "Scott Evil."
Although Dr.Evil is mad, he wasn't always this way. Dr. Evil and Austin Powers are actually brothers but were split at a very young age when their adopted parents died in a tragic car accident. As they grew up Austin was always the favorite and even though Dr. Evil was smarter than Austin, he was the unpopular one who constantly got put in the shadow of his popular brother

As Dr. Evil grew, his hatred for the world and the people occupied by it did as well. Austin went of to fight for the greater good while Dr. Evil went on to do the exact opposite. While Dr. Evil wanted to prove his place of power and importance to the world, he was facing another battle as well. He was trying to make up for the years of neglect that he faced from his parents and brother. He wanted to feel important and in control of the people who treated him poorly during his childhood. This mentality drew him to madness because now all he wanted to do was rule the world and if it came down to it even destroy it along with all its inhabitants.

As a result of all the heartache and suffering Dr.Evil went through as a child, he displayed many moral and ethical issues associated with his choices. Instead of talking through his problems and confronting the source immediately and effectively, he took to anger and violence to solve his problems when in the end nothing was resolved using such methods. His lack of support as a child drove him mad which was portrayed in the actions he took in the years following his upbringing.
